Time Out says

Located in the heart of Chicago, Discovery Center is an adult education facility that offers an incredible range of classes. Some of their most widely attended workshops are beginner-friendly art classes, like the popular Intro to Painting class. Here, students learn the basics of color blending and composition through a combination of lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on practice. Students will use water-based paints to create their own abstract and representational paintings while an instructor provides regular guidance and individual support. There is also a Drawing for Beginners class that discusses a variety of drawing styles and techniques.

Discovery Center is also home to a wide range of mixology and cocktail classes. From Rum Appreciation to The Art of the Martini, you can likely find a program that suits your palate. One of their more popular mixology courses is Sophisticated and Complex Cocktails, which helps participants learn bartending techniques to wow guests at their next party. This class teaches students impressive skills like layering drinks, as well as the art of making blended and flaming drinks. Some of the drinks you’ll learn in this course include a Ramos Gin Fizz, a Rock Lobster, and a Goblet of Fire.

In addition to their wide range of creative and artistic classes, Discovery Center also provides workshops to help boost your resume and enhance essential professional skills. There are notary classes, proofreading and editing classes, as well as a workshop that covers the basics of starting your own small business. There are also numerous language, fitness, dance, and acting/improv classes, making Discovery Center a great place if you’re looking for a group activity in Chicago

Folks who have attended classes at Discovery Center report having positive experiences overall. The instructors are often described as helpful and knowledgeable, making even the most beginner students feel at ease when asking questions. The art classes are praised for being immersive and hands-on in nature, and students enjoyed being able to bring their pieces home with them at the end of class. The business classes are reportedly informative and provide students with concrete steps to boost their existing careers or start new ones.
