It's always a little sleepy on media preview day at the Chicago Auto Show. McCormick Place's cavernous halls are eerily quiet, and the unmistakable scent of new carpet fills the air. This year marks the 105th edition of the exhibition, the largest such show in North America, which opens to the public February 8–17. Max Herman headed to the South Loop to photograph the latest models and concept cars gleaming under the convention center's lights. You can almost hear Tim Allen grunting.
