Chicago welcomed 2018 with a bunch of great New Year’s Eve parties, but few had the futuristic, forward-looking flair of Voyager, an annual celebration that incorporates live music, projected visuals and art installations. Produced by Canvas, the event is inspired by the probes that NASA launched into space in 1977 carrying gold records containing music and images that reflect human culture.

This year’s Voyager party took over the Ravenswood Event Center, outfitting the space with twinkling lights, colorful projections and plenty of room to dance. 1833, TRQPiTECA and AMFM Gallery were tapped to curate the party’s stages, welcoming acts like Shigeto, Nick Monaco, Ric Wilson, CQQCHIFRUIT and Sen Morimoto.
