Evanston, Evanston, Evanston.

The suburb just north of Chicago is beloved for the same reason others wouldn't dare set down roots within its quaint borders. Quite simply, it just doesn't belong to Chicago proper.

We're calling shenanigans on the naysayers.

Evanston is a great place. It's close enough to Chicago to draw on the many benefits Chicagoans find familiar. Northwestern University ensures things stay fresh and at least nominally young. There are concerts and art galleries, shopping and a cadre of great bars. There's a little bit of everything that makes Evanston worth the short trek. And there certainly isn't a lack of things to do in Evanston

Attractions like the excellent FEW Spirits distillery and a plethora of multicultural restaurants make Evanston not only a place to visit, but a great place to stay.

Don't believe us? Take it from the locals.

In lieu of our excitement, we asked our friends over at Zumper to locate the cheapest apartments in the neighborhood with the greatest value. Check out our findings below.

Hampton Parkway, Apt #W2: $1,475/month

A cozy two-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment can do no wrong, especially this close to the lake at this price. A lovely pair of French doors leads to the bedroom adjacent to the living room. Ample windows allow for a plethora of sunlight to shine into the interior and reflect off the gleaming hardwood floors, which, with the exception of the kitchen and bathroom, run throughout the layout.
