Malört 5K

Nothing goes together quite like Chicago's infamous wormwood liqueur and a jaunt through the streets of North Center—at least that's what the organizers of this unconventional 5K race are proposing. Participants in the annual Malört 5K begin and finish the road race with a shot of the bitter beverage (you can't cross the finish line until you've knocked back the second serving). The winner gets a bottle of Malört and the last-place finisher receives two bottles, one of which, we assume, is for sharing with friends. Everyone who enters the race gets a Malört 5K T-shirt, a beer to chase their last shot with and 10% off their tab at Heineken Pub 97.
