This Korean mega-chain has its roots in Queens, New York, but you could feel so lost in translation here you’d believe you’re in Seoul. Piles of exotic produce greet you at the door, a food court lines one wall (don’t miss the garlic fried chicken at Toreore), a fragrant kimchi section puts out dozens of various house-pickled treats, live fish swim in tanks manned by staffers hawking the day’s catch, a production line presses and packs fresh tofu, and aisles of sauces and snacks bearing neon cartoon characters lure adventurous impulse buyers. Don’t forget the soju, picnic-ready in plastic liter bottles.
