Deep Red Wine Merchant

Though it's named after '70s Italian horror film Deep Red and the interior is inspired by The Shining, wine lovers shouldn't be scared away from this Avondale shop. Owner Dave Thompson, a veteran beverage director who's worked at places like Cherry Circle Room, the Map Room and Lula Cafe, has created a space that's welcoming and accessible to all. The selection spans around 75 bottles, but for those who are in need of some guidance, the team is more than willing to lend a helping hand and demystify the wine-buying experience. Budding oenophiles can also sign up for classes that dive into categories like classic Italian varietals and sparkling wines, or subscribe to a monthly club to receive bottles at home.
