Don’t be deterred by the bare-bones look of this carryout shop. Owner Mohammed Djeddour has quite a following from a cabbie clientele, while foodies found the place thanks to opening consulting chef Kate Garcia, the original owner of Pilsen’s Mundial. Djeddour is Algerian, but the food blurs the line between Middle Eastern and North African: Bright salads include apricot-studded Israeli couscous and cubed watermelon with cucumber dressed in orange vinaigrette. Crêpelike Algerian-style flatbreads hold hunks of roasted lamb or merguez sausage slathered with goat cheese and dijon. Round it out with housemade pastries for dessert.
