What would compel the owners of Kith & Kin to shut down their restaurant and reconcept? The resulting café offers some clues. The removal of all the whimsical decor suggests they wanted to make the place plain and boring. The sleepy menu of chicken breasts and pasta suggests they wanted it to be "accessible." And the textbook execution of these canned-soup–quality dishes solidifies the café's fate, which is not so much a restaurant as it is another mediocre cafeteria for DePaul students.
