The Black Duck (CLOSED)

The stretch of Halsted Street that lays claim to this tavern is packed with upscale eateries. More gastropub than sports bar, the Black Duck keeps the scene grounded. Grab one of the tables that surround the beautiful, dark-wood bar and start with a martini and plate of scallops wrapped in salty bacon. Move to the New York strip seasoned simply with salt, pepper and rosemary. It’s not Alinea or Boka, but then again, it’s not supposed to be.
