Don’t let the slick look of this new Chinatown sibling to Chi Café fool you—this is not fancy food. In fact, it’s pretty typical Hong Kong–style Cantonese, and to tell you the truth, we’re not exactly sure why every TV-outfitted booth in the place is packed. You might have to be a Hong Kong expat to really appreciate the rice soups, congee and noodles, but we just couldn’t get past gristly meat, slimy sauces and blah flavors. We even tried venturing into Taiwanese and Szechuan dishes, but it doesn’t look as if we’ll be abandoning our favorite Chinatown spots for these either.
