Polo Café and Catering

Once a neighborhood candy store, Polo remains a local gathering place in close-knit Bridgeport. Lunch is the main meal, starring charred Angus beef burgers slathered with chef-owner David Samber’s garlic aioli, salads and giant bowls of pasta. Tend to the effects of Friday night’s debauchery with the Saturday Bloody Mary brunch that offers stick-to-your-ribs fare like Da Mare’s steak and eggs and housemade biscuits with gravy. The joint oozes with tchotchkes and South Side history (an oversize photo of Richard J. Daley grinned over our booth), and features Bridgeport’s own Filbert’s fruit sodas and root beer.
