It was only a matter of time before the progenitor of the fro-yo craze hit Chicago, and apparently the wait was worth it. A constant stream of devotees flows through the doors of the former Berry Chill space, looking to sample new flavors like salted caramel and watermelon. The latter seems concocted by someone who’s never tasted the actual fruit, but the former is an ideal dulce de leche in frozen form. Still, it’s the original that shows how “Crackberry” earned its nickname, smoother than most with a near perfect sweet-tart balance that’s best when simply topped with fresh fruit.
