Old-school doesn’t begin to describe this Chicago landmark. Though not the original (which opened in 1938 in Beverly Hills), the Lawry empire’s second notch has stood its downtown ground since 1974. When we need a break from fancy cheeses and foams, we head here for comforting nostalgia, order the Lawry cut medium-rare, use the crispy Yorkshire pudding to sop up the mahogany gravy, go for the lobster tail add-on, finish with a dense, simply delicious slice of chocolate cake and savor every last minute in our favorite time warp.
