Superdawg Drive-In Superdawg’s got some fun gimmicks: old-timey carhop service, mascot hot dog statues Flaurie and Maurie holding court on the rooftop. But it’s the classic Superdawg ($5.50) that’s kept the crowds coming since 1948: all-beef, topped with mustard, chopped onions, piccalilli relish, a pickle spear and a hot pepper, then placed inside a soft poppy seed bun. It's served in a box alongside a fistful of perfectly crispy crinkle-cut fries. This is the best $5.50 you can spend on the Northwest Side.—Judy Sutton Taylor
