Jim's Original This little walk-up shack on the UIC campus doesn't look like much. There's nowhere to sit, and the menu is small. But a hot dog and fries for $2.85? That's the reason to head to Jim's Original. The Vienna Beef hot dog is served topped with grilled onions and mustard, and they'll ask if you want peppers. You do, but only if you've brought a gallon of water—these peppers pack quite a punch. And with two served on the hot dog, well, you'll need a fire extinguisher for your tongue. The grilled onions are a nice touch, providing great flavor and texture without the raw aftertaste. The bun fell apart about halfway through, but that is the frank's only flaw. Served with crispy yet greasy fries, this dog is the perfect late-night snack.—Emily Gilmer
