The latest Chicago outpost of the bagel chain from Madison, Wisconsin churns out bagels that are made New York-style—big, hearty, just-chewy-enough hunks of bread that are even better with cream cheese or as a sandwich. Play it safe with a basic bacon, egg and cheddar bagel or lox and cream cheese. But Gotham New York Bagels and Eats has some delicious in-hour creations, including a Nashville fried chicken sandwich and pastrami rubbed smoked white fish stack that comes with horseradish cream cheese. You don't have to head to the Big Apple to get a decent bagel.
