The call-and-response routine behind the counter at this West Coast–based chain—in which the person working the register repeats your order, then the crew of line cooks shouts it back—may be more exciting than the meals themselves. There are countless ways to customize your burger (in S, M, L, XL and XXL; topped with a fried egg, chili or bacon) and fries (”skinny” ones, “fat” steak fries or disappointing onion rings), and the beef is of higher-than-average quality. Still, this places won’t exactly make you rethink fast food.
