This Lincoln Park stalwart may have shot itself in the foot by opening Red Rooster, the more casual, less-expensive dining room in the back of the building—the Rooster is typically more packed than Bernard is. Have people forgotten about the classic French fare this spot has been dishing out since 1972? If they have, they should get their hands on the housemade duck pâté (immensely improved with the proper amount of mustard), plump scallops drizzled with balsamic, and a rare, peppery filet mignon flanked by soft, creamy potatoes. Finished off with a classic creamy crème brûlée, it’s a meal they won’t soon forget again.
