Bistro Dre (CLOSED)

Chef André Christopher caused a stir in 2009 when he very publicly broke up with Grocery Bistro (which promptly shuttered without him). At his own place in Lakeview, he is being decidedly more quiet. In these quaint environs, Christopher executes a short, focused menu of European comfort foods: fish-and-chips, a rich beef stew, a surprisingly satisfying stuffed beet. The presentations (almost everything arrives on a wood board) are a little trendy, but otherwise this is a neighborhood spot that is built to last.
