Back in May, Half Acre Beer Co. announced that it's leaving the Lincoln Avenue facility where the brewery was born in 2008, turning over the building and taproom to upstart brewery Hop Butcher For the World. Half Acre will be consolidating its operations in its much larger Balmoral production facility—but longtime fans will be able to say goodbye to the original Half Acre taproom and get a photo with the bear head behind the bar before the brewery leaves North Center for good.
The Half Acre Lincoln Tap Room has been closed for much of the past 18 months, but you'll be able to take a seat at the bar throughout September. Beginning on Thursday, September 2, the Lincoln Tap Room will be open from 4–11pm Thursday through Saturday—that gives you four weekends to grab a drink before Half Acre's last night in the space on Saturday, September 25.
Half Acre hasn't announced the beer that will be available at the Lincoln Tap Room throughout September, but it seems likely that classics like the Space IPA, Orin strong ale and maybe even some vintage Big Hugs imperial stout could make an appearance on the draft lines. We do know that you'll be able to snag a pint of Daisy Cutter (which recently debuted a new can design) brewed by founding Half Acre brewers Matt Gallagher and Gabriel Magliaro. Unfortunately, the kitchen won't be open, so you you'll have to bring your own burritos or nachos.
Access to the Lincoln Tap Room will be first come, first served and proof of vaccination is required for all guests. Oh, and don't forget to bring your credit card because Half Acre won't be accepting cash.
Looking for even more Half Acre fun in September? The brewery will host its annual Oktoberfest celebration in its Balmoral beer garden on Friday, September 10 from 6–10pm. Attendees will enjoy pours of Lager Town beer, live music from an oompah band as well as flower crowns and bouquets from Flowers For Dreams. Tickets to the event go on sale Wednesday, September 1 at noon via the Half Acre website.
