Chicago is clearly having a moment, popping up across different rankings weekly. Today, we'd like to focus on Travel & Leisure's newly released survey of best hotels in the world, a list that includes our very own Deer Path Inn in Lake Forest.
Landing at No. 66, the Tudor-style building on the North Shore is almost 100 years old and, apparently, has been slowly creeping up the annual list given its "outstanding" service and "gracious" environment all around, according to the outlet's readers, whose opinion the survey is actually based on.
More specifically, this year alone, over 186,000 readers completed the 2024 survey—totaling more than 700,00 votes across 8,700 properties. All hotels, inns and lodges were rated based on rooms/facilities, location, service, food and value.
One of only 16 US-based hotels on the list, the Deer Path Inn is located in one of the wealthiest suburbs in America. As part of its World's Best Awards 2024, Travel & Leisure has also published a list of top resorts in the Midwest. The Deer Path Inn tops that specific ranking and was also named the sixth best resort in the continental U.S. Clearly, the destination is having a moment.
"2024 marks a special year for the Lake Forest resort, as it celebrates its 95th anniversary," reads an official press release. "The 57-room English-style boutique hotel characterized by mannerly innkeeping traditions is treasured by its community and guests from across the world, serving as a respite for city dwellers and Anglophiles since it was established in 1929."
Of course, the Windy City got some love from Travel & Leisure as well: Chicago was voted the ninth best city in the U.S.
