Family-owned fried-chicken franchise Hattie B's Hot Chicken has been heating up Nashville, Tennessee since 2012 and has spread its wings to more than a dozen locations around the South, including Atlanta, Austin, Birmingham, Dallas, Franklin, Las Vegas and Memphis, since then. Now, the iconic chain is roosting in Wrigleyville for its first-ever Chicago outpost.

Joining Chicago's own fried-chicken favorites like Big Jones, Crisp and Bavette's, Hattie B's will reportedly open at 3649 N. Clark Street at Gallagher Way, taking over the space formerly occupied by Foxtrot, just steps away from Wrigley Field. The 3,265-square-foot destination will have seating for up to 70 indoors and another 55 outside, with a 515-square-foot patio, reports Eater Chicago

The Wrigleyville restaurant will be the first permanent Chicago-based brick-and-mortar for the brand—Hattie B's previously operated a one-day-only pop-up slinging its signature hot chicken plates and sandwiches at Dove’s Luncheonette in Wicker Park back in 2019. Though an official opening date has not yet been released by the company, the Windy City outpost is expected to open either late 2025 or early 2026.

“Our arrival to Chicago and opening at Gallagher Way is beyond exciting for me and our entire Hattie B’s family and team,” Hattie B’s Hot Chicken co-founder Nick Bishop, Jr. said in an official statement. “Chicago is one of the great food and beverage cities in the world, and we can’t wait to soon serve our Nashville hot chicken in Wrigleyville.”

Over the past decade-plus, Hattie B's Hot Chicken has become a national favorite thanks to that fiery protein—available in six heat levels, from a mildly lip-tingling "Southern" to the searing-hot “Shut the Cluck Up!” and served with cole slaw, kosher pickles and buttery slices of bread.

The chain's selection of Southern-inspired sides, which are scratch-made daily, is no joke either: from the pimento mac-and-cheese to black-eyed pea salad, savory collard greens and sweet treats like creamy banana pudding, peach cobbler and tres leche cake, everything served at the spot is always delicious.
