Though the price of a house in Chicagoland has surged in the past year—the citywide average increased by more than $6,500 from 2023 to 2024, per The Chicago Tribune—it is still graciously more affordable to own a home in the Windy City than in other parts of the county. (According to data from the Zillow Home Value Index, Chicago home prices are currently $60,000 below the U.S. average.) But that doesn't mean that Chicago isn't packed with pricey neighborhoods, where it costs a pretty penny to live in urban luxury.
