Do you have room in your home for a new, big-boned friend? If so, get yourself to Lincoln Park this Saturday, where PAWS Chicago is once again hosting its Big Love Adoption Event to spotlight some of the shelter's biggest dogs available for adoption.

The shelter started the Big Love event—which features dogs weighing 40 pounds or more—in an effort to call attention to its largest residents, who are usually more difficult to adopt out because of weight restrictions placed on many city apartment buildings. During this one-day edition of the event, potential adopters will have a chance to meet pups like 1-year-old Tobias (known for being a "staff favorite" as well as his agility) and Genesis, a chunky 11-year-old Shih Tzu who loves belly rubs and could use your help losing a little weight on daily walks. Bonus: The adoption fees for all the dogs featured in the Big Love event have been sponsored by a PAWS donor, though you'll still need to pay a $100 training fee.

To prepare for the event, fill out the PAWS Chicago ComPETibility Quiz and Adoption Application and make an appointment at the shelter's Lincoln Park Adoption center, located at 1997 N Clybourn Ave. You should plan on bringing all members of your household (including children and resident dogs) to the appointment so that everyone can get acquainted. Not sure you can adopt a big dog right now? You can always send a donation to PAWS to help support the shelter's work finding homes for thousands of cats and dogs every year.

PAWS Chicago's Big Love Adoption Event will take place on Saturday, June 18 from 11am–5pm. Take a look at some of the very adorable (and very big) pups below, or visit the PAWS Chicago website to see a full list of adoptable animals.
