Chicagoans love their local pizza shops and, as it turns out, so should everyone else in the country—seven Chicago spots were just named best in the U.S. by 50 Top Pizza, an online guide focusing on the top Italian pizzerias across the globe.
Although New York City was the most represented town in the guide, which also includes a slew of other awards like pizza maker of the year and new entry of the year, Chicago came in second with seven mentions, including Robert's (No. 10), Spacca Napoli Pizzeria (No. 23) and Coda di Volpe (No. 47) in the main ranking.
To come up with its annual list, 50 Top Pizza dispatches its anonymous inspectors all over the country to delight in copious amounts of pizza while also dissecting a customers' in-shop experience and, of course, the quality of the pies.
This year in particular, the organization has also debuted a second ranking, this one focusing on the best pizza slices served around the world.
Jimmy's Pizza Cafe in Chicago made it onto that list at No. 9. The survey doesn't include any details about which specific slice we're dealing with, though. Alas, the local parlor slings out pretty awesome New York-style pies all around, so you might want to try as many as possible.
