1. If you still haven’t visited Sleeping Village, the new bar and music venue in Avondale from the Whistler team, head there today for Sound of Spring, an all-day patio party with a Bell’s Brewery tap takeover, DJ sets by Wild Belle’s Quin Kirchner and White Mystery’s Alex White, and a free evening show by Flint Eastwood and Glass Lux. The free event starts at 1pm and the bands go on at 7pm.

2. Sample more than two dozen takes on chicken wings at the annual Chicago’s Best Wingfest. The chicken exposition takes place at UIC Pavilion; doors open at noon for VIP ticketholders and 1pm for general admission, and tickets start at $50 for all the wings you can eat.

3. It’s barely started to feel like spring, but it’s time to ceremonially welcome Chicago summer by turning on Buckingham Fountain for the season. Switch on Summer is the official name of the free, ComEd-sponsored celebration from noon to 3pm, which includes a performance by quintessential summer festival band Sixteen Candles; the event is hosted by Tom Skilling, because of course it is.
