1. Take in the sights of brightly colored, giant-size Chinese lanterns at the Dragon Lights Festival, which has taken up residence in the South Parking Lot at Soldier Field. Tickets are $20 or $13 for kids, and entry begins at 5:30pm today.

2. The Empty Bottle’s occasional punk, rock and new-wave queer night, Glitter Creeps, returns to host tonight’s free Monday showcase. See performances by Ganser (releasing their debut LP, Odd Talk), ONO and Courtesy. The show starts at 8:30pm.

3. Hear five parents tell stories about the moment their child came into the world in Birth Day, a new entry into the live-lit scene that’s produced by Runcible Theatre Company. Tonight’s first outing in the monthly series starts at 7:30pm, and admission is $10.
