One of the things that makes the Original Rainbow Cone so special is that you usually have to go out of your way to get it. For years, grabbing the five-flavor combo of chocolate, strawberry, Palmer House, pistachio and orange sherbet has meant making a trip to the original shop in Beverly, visiting the seasonal stand on Navy Pier or getting a cone during the annual Taste of Chicago.

Soon, you'll have a few additional options for getting your Rainbow Cone fix. This morning, the business announced a brand new brick and mortar location is coming to Lombard, opening at 498 E Roosevelt Road. Set to open on May 5, the new location will feature a bright pink exterior, indoor and outdoor seating as well as a drive-through, making picking up a cone for the road easier than ever before (though we don't recommend attempting to eat one while driving). In addition to offering other ice cream flavors, the Lombard location will also feature some exclusive menu items, including mini donuts and Rainbow Mixers, which blend soft serve and mix-ins.

After introducing the very first Original Rainbow Cone ice cream truck last summer, the business is adding four more trucks to its fleet this summer. That means that you may not have to go out of your way to grab a cone this summer—Rainbow Cone may come to you!

To celebrate the upcoming opening of the new location, the Original Rainbow Cone will run a giveaway on its Instagram and Facebook accounts, with three winners receiving free ice cream for an entire year. That's a lot of slices of those five delicious flavors.
