If you've been monitoring Six Flags Great America's social media accounts for clues regarding the mysterious messages that the company has been posting in recent days, you know by now that the park will debut its first new roller coaster since 2019 some time in 2025.

Dubbed Wrath of Rakshasa, the roller coaster will, according to NBC Chicago, "feature both the world's steepest drop on a dive coaster, as well as the most inversions on a dive coaster, boasting a 96-degree beyond-vertical drop and five inversions."

In case you were wondering what a dive coaster even is, picture three-row trains, where riders get to sit seven across, that plummet over 100 feet at a vertical angle.

Just to keep things in perspective, according to Six Flag's official website, this will become the "world's most inverted dive coaster," featuring five inversions, speeds of nearly 67 miles per hour and a height of over 3,200 feet in the air. That's ... petrifying? Exhilarating? Absolutely insane?

Park-goers will find the Wrath of Rakshasa experience in the County Fair section of the venue, where American Eagle and Demon  also reside.

Built by Bolliger & Mabillard, the ride is the 18th dive coaster constructed by the company. Once open, it will also be the second only one of its kind in the Midwest, joining Valravn at Cedar Point in Ohio.

Chicagoans, our theme parks are making history!
