Chicagoans don't typically get to see the U.S. Navy's Blue Angels rip through the clouds outside of the annual Air and Water Show. But in honor of local first responders and frontline workers, the highly skilled aerobatic squadron will fly over Chicago Tuesday, May 12.
The Blue Angels announced the exciting air display over the weekend, along with stops in Detroit and Indianapolis. The Chicago route will last 15 minutes, beginning around 11:45am just north of Jackson Park. By 11:51am, the jets will be over the West Side of the city, showing off for Wicker Park, Logan Square and Oak Park. The pilots will then head northeast to the southern border of Evanston before swooping down the lakefront. Take a closer look at the flight path below.
Plan to take a break from lockdown monotony on Tuesday when the Blue Angels soar through Chicago—your window or balcony could be a front-row seat to the show. And if not, don't break social-distancing rules to catch a glimpse; we have a hunch that the action will be shared all over social media.
