UPDATE (August 21): Tenet is opening in 70mm at the Music Box Theatre on August 31—a few days before its official U.S. debut on September 3. Music Box members will get first dibs on tickets to the "early access screenings" which run from August 31 through September 2. Any leftover tickets will go on sale to the general public at an unspecified time on Sunday, August 23.

Tenet, the latest mind-bending blockbuster from director Christopher Nolan, was originally scheduled to premiere in theaters on July 17, but the closure of theater chains throughout the world has caused the release date to be postponed multiple times. Last week, Warner Bros. announced that the heady spy thriller will make its international debut in parts of Europe and Asia on August 26, before coming to theaters throughout the rest of the world in the following days. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tenet will open in "select U.S. cities" on September 3, just ahead of Labor Day weekend.

The details of the U.S. release of Tenet are clearly still being ironed out, but the Music Box Theatre has confirmed that it will be screening a 70mm print of the film—though the date of its premiere is still TBD. The Lakeview theater confirmed its plans to screen Nolan's new film on its rare 70mm projection system in an email sent to Music Box members this afternoon.

While audiences wait for Tenet to arrive, the Music Box will be screening the only 70mm print in the U.S. of Nolan's 2010 film Inception in its main theater, beginning on August 14. Tickets for the screenings of Inception are currently on sale, but keep in mind that the current safety guidelines being observed by Chicago movie theater restrict capacity to no more than 50 people, so you may want to snag a ticket soon before they sell out.

With the Chicago locations of major movie theater chains like Regal and AMC still closed, it's possible that the Music Box may not screen Tenet until other theaters in the city are able to do so. Expect to hear more details about the release of Tenet as theater chains decide whether or not they'll reopen (under Chicago's Phase 4 guidelines) to host the only blockbuster of the nearly-barren summer movie season.
