It's that time of the year again: Chicago's Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events has announced this year's summer lineup at Millennium Park. It'll mark the annual festivities' 20th anniversary.
As is usually the case, programming includes free workout-related initiatives, a music series and film activations. Specifically, the latter will run every Tuesday from July 16 through August 20, showcasing the likes of Wonka, Barbie and classics like E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial on a 40-foot LED screen.
The concerts, on the other hand, will take place on Mondays and Thursdays starting July 1 through August 8 at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion. Among the already-announced acts are GZA, Corinne Bailey Rae and Terrace Martin.
Perhaps not as popular but certainly fun as well is Millennium Park's summer workout schedule, which includes zumba, yoga, pilates and kickboxing classes every Saturday from May 18 through August 31.
The city will also host a four-day Millennium Park 20th Anniversary Celebration from July 18-21, featuring acts like Fruko y Sus Tesos, Common and the Grant Park Orchestra in Star Wars and More: the Music of John Williams.
