If the words Cloud Paint, Lidstar and Boy Brow mean anything to you, listen up: Online beauty retailer Glossier is debuting a pop-up shop in the West Loop on Thursday, August 23. The temporary storefront is located at 114 N Aberdeen Street and will remain open through the end of October. Visitors can stop in to sample and shop the entire product line—from Milky Jelly cleanser to Haloscope highlighter.
The brand's in-house design team curated the all-white space, which is housed inside a former firehouse and draws inspiration from the city’s iconic architectural history and vibrant art scene. The monochromatic interior features Corinthian columns, funky floral arrangements, 3–D artwork that looks as though it's melting into the floor, hidden doorways and, of course, plenty of makeup. Beyond ambient music playing throughout the store, guests can also experience "hidden sound moments, where specially engineered sound-focusing domes will transport [them] into a completely different mood," according to Glossier senior experiential designer Kendall Latham.
If Glossier's permanent outpost in Los Angeles is any indication, Chicagoans can expect a highly Instagrammable experience. The West Coast shop is decked out in millennial pink and even has a "Glossier Canyon," a selfie experience that mimics Arizona's Antelope Canyon.
Chicago's pop-up location will be open Monday through Friday from noon to 8pm and Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 7pm. Stop in to get your beauty fix and some stunning fodder for your Instagram feed. Take a look at video tour of the space and see more photos of the beauty shop below.
