Get your skate on at Chicago Athletic Association’s holiday rink

The Chicago Athletic Association is getting into the holiday spirit in a major way this weekend. The trendy Michigan Avenue hotel will bring back its popular roller rink pop-up for a special yuletide edition they’re calling Mistletoes: Holiday Skate. The good times roll from Friday, December 15 to Sunday, December 17. While Chicago has no shortage of ice skating rinks around town, nothing beats the retro fun of an indoor roller rink.

In honor of the most wonderful time of the year, CAA will dish out festive treats and special cocktails. Boozy offerings include the Cool Todd (who needs a Hot Toddy when you're working up a sweat skating?) and the Muletide (a cranberry Moscow Mule). For additional drinks, CAA's wildly festive pop-up bar Happy's is just downstairs.

To add to the merriment, festive attire is “absolutely encouraged” at Mistletoes this weekend. So if you’re looking for a reason to reuse the ugly sweater you’ve got stashed away, this just might be the perfect excuse.

Tickets are $20 (per two-hour session), and skate rentals are available for an additional $5. Skaters must be over 18. If you’re still planning a last-minute holiday party, you can even rent out the festive roller rink for a private event. While you’re in the mood for Christmas fun, make the season even merrier with our guide to the best ways to spend the holidays in Chicago.
