Ask any single Chicagoan about the experience of dating in this city and you'll likely hear complaints about the plight of the local scene. Turns out, the naggers aren't completely wrong: According to a survey by FetishFinder, Chicago ranks as the fourth worst city in the U.S. for dating, following New York, Los Angeles and Philadelphia.
To come up with the list, FetishFinder researchers collected data on six key factors while analyzing the 20 largest cities in the U.S. The metrics included the population of singles, the likelihood of marriage, the annual divorce rate, the rate of individuals actively searching for a relationship, quality of life and cost of living.
"Dating in Chicago is challenging due to its third highest divorce rates, third lowest likelihood of marriage, and third lowest quality of life," reads the study.
