Chicago's whirlwind winter weather pattern continues strong: The National Weather Service issued a dense fog advisory today and, although it is set to expire by press time, city dwellers will have to contend with the conditions for quite some time still—especially considering that the warning initially expired yesterday but the fog then reappeared in certain portions of suburban Chicago.

Here are a few things to keep in mind when driving in the fog, according to the National Weather Service: Slow down and always give yourself more time to get to your destination, don't use high-beam lights (believe it or not, they actually create more glare, making it even more difficult for you to see ahead) and leave plenty of distance between you and the car in front of you.

In addition to the fog today, expect some light, spotty rain. The good news—it's not going to be too cold out there, with temperatures potentially reaching highs of over 50 degrees.

Tonight, though, will get breezier and colder.

The rest of the week is looking acceptable as well. Tomorrow's high will reach 40 and a bit of snow is predicted late night into Wednesday morning (not enough to lead to a snow day, don't worry), when you can expect clouds and temperatures in the mid-30s.

Snow lovers will delight in knowing that white powder could potentially descend upon us Thursday night as well.

Overall, given usual Chicago winter weather patterns, we can't complain about this week's forecast but, once again, please be extra careful in the fog!
