Chicago didn't end up with the eight inches of snow that was forecasted earlier this week (a little more than three inches stuck), but the National Weather Service is predicting that another significant bout of winter precipitation could blanket the city this weekend. The system is expected to move into the Chicago area late on Saturday afternoon and could bring another six inches (or more!) of snow along with it.
According to the NWS, the system is projected to arrive in Chicago between 4 and 7pm on Saturday, with the snowfall becoming "most intense Saturday eve into early overnight." The precipitation is likely to be accompanied by gusts of wind that clock in at 25 to 35 miles per hour, which could reduce visibility for drivers.
You have every reason to be skeptical about predictions of significant snowfall, though the NWS states that its "confidence is high" about this particular forecast. If you love admiring the beautiful sights of Chicago covered in snow, you might want to wake up early on Sunday morning—and don't forget to shovel your sidewalk!
