If you think it's hot out today, brace yourself for tomorrow's weather—officials are warning us about an excessive heat watch set to envelop the Chicago area on Tuesday.

NBC Chicago reports that temperatures could potentially exceed 100 degrees both today and tomorrow. If that ends up being the case, we'll make into history books: according to the National Weather Service, the record high temperature for today and tomorrow in Chicago is 97 degrees, recorded back in 1973.

Although things will start cooling off on Wednesday, it won't be by much: expect temperatures to stay in the upper 80s for a few days more.

This is all to say: It's still summer out there so you might as well go out and enjoy the heat—do we have to remind you about how cold it gets around here in the winter?

If you need some inspiration to get you out of the house while it's still this hot out, check out our list of best things to do in Chicago in the summer. From a lazy beach day to enjoying a refreshing cocktail at one of the best rooftops around here, there are plenty of ways to really soak in the sun this season. Our personal favorite? Seeing the city on a boat tour. There's just something about taking in all of our town's glory from the water that excites us so.
