The Premier League Summer Series, a pre-season friendly football tournament hosted in the United States, will officially take place in Chicago, Atlanta and New Jersey this summer from July 26 to August 3.
This will be the second-ever edition of the event, with AFC Bournemouth, Everton, Manchester United and West Ham United set to compete in a round-robin tournament to the delight of all American soccer (err, football) fans.
Last year, the inaugural event was held in Atlanta, New Jersey, Orlando, Philly and Landover in Maryland, making this Chicago's first foray into the shenanigans.
“We are delighted to be bringing the Premier League Summer Series back to the United States,” said Premier League chief executive Richard Masters in an official statement. “We know from our previous tournament and Premier League Mornings Live events that we and our clubs have incredibly loyal and passionate fans in the U.S. who get up early to follow their teams during the season. In these four clubs we have world-class players and managers who will undoubtedly give supporters a fantastic Premier League experience just before the season starts.”
Where in Chicago will the Premier League Summer Series be held?
The round of soccer matches will kick off (see what we did there?) on July 26 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
The teams will then travel to our very own Soldier Field on July 30, when West Ham United will play Everton and Manchester United will face AFC Bournemouth.
The Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta will host the final leg of the tournament on August 3.
What time will the Chicago Premier League Summer series games be?
On July 30, West Ham United will play against Everton at Soldier Field starting at 5:30pm. The second match—Manchester United versus AFC Bournemouth—will kick off at 8:30pm that same night.
Are tickets available?
Ticket registration for all matches is now open right here. Keep in mind that passes for all games will be available for registered fans via an exclusive pre-sale starting Thursday, May 13. General ticket sales will then launch at 10am EST on Friday, March 14, on Ticketmaster.
Can't make it to the stadium this year? Worry not: We're sure the best soccer bars in Chicago will broadcast all games!
