Check out beautiful photos of Chicago covered in snow

Yesterday's projections of 8 inches of snow in Chicago proved to be incorrect, but the city did get blanketed in white powder last night—according to the National Weather Service, approximately 3.1 inches of snowfall was recorded at O'Hare. Thankfully, Chicago's snowplows seemed to be ready for the storm, clearing major streets throughout the night as the drifts continued to accumulate. The city is still under a winter storm warning until 5pm this afternoon, but the precipitation seems to be tapering off.

While some Chicagoans only stepped outside to quickly shovel their sidewalk (if you haven't done that yet, you should), a few brave residents put on their coat and boots to capture some beautiful photos of their neighborhoods blanketed in snow. We weren't able to find any pictures of "dibs" being claimed, but you can be sure that the parking-spot-saving practice will be on display this afternoon.
