It feels like it's been non-stop snowing in Chicago all winter and things are not slowing down any time soon: The National Weather Service just warned Chicagoans about the impending arrival of a wintry mix tonight. According to the agency, freezing rain will envelop the city around 6pm through midnight, turning Chicago into, well, an urban icicle.

“It’s going to fall as liquid and freeze anything that touches the ground,” Brett Borchardt, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, said to Block Club Chicago. “There’s going to be a mist and raindrops falling, and sometimes it can be sinister, because you don’t know when it’s also going to turn into ice.”

Although temperatures will hit highs in the lower 30s tonight, things will start warming up tomorrow. Here's to hoping that highs of 40s will help melt all that ice.

As for how much snow we're getting, NBC mentions that models suggest an accumulation of less than an inch. Clearly, the issue is going to be the ice, not the snow.

You know the drill, folks: try to stay off the road tonight and, perhaps, even tomorrow morning, when the sleet and ice are going to make the commute pretty awful.

One more thing: don't get too comfortable once you see the sun shine bright tomorrow. According to meteorologists, another winter system is heading our way, likely bringing along with it a few inches of snow when it reaches Chicago on Saturday and Sunday. Fun times ahead.
