Still making your way through all of the Michelin-starred restaurants in Chicago? Give your wallet a break and scope out the 54 local restaurants that just nabbed Bib Gourmands from Michelin. What's the difference between a star and a Bib? The latter is awarded to "establishments that serve good quality food at a good value, making it possible to order two courses and a glass of wine or dessert for around $40 or less." We can get down with that price tag.
This year's new additions, in alphabetical order, are: Avlí Taverna, Birrieria Zaragoza, Cabra, Cira, Country Barbecue, etta, Flat & Point, Funkenhausen, Ghin Khao, Ina Mae Tavern, Kie-Gol-Lanee, La Josie, Nella Pizza e Pasta and Virtue. They join dozens of other Chicago restaurants that have held the honor, including Avec, Fat Rice and HaiSous.
Despite gaining 14 newbies, Chicago's total number of Bib Gourmands is down from last year. The following restaurants are no longer on the list, some of which have permanently shuttered: Angry Crab, Au Cheval, bellyQ, Bohemian House, Bristol, Cumin, Dove's Luncheonette, Han 202, Hopleaf, Jade Court, Jin Thai, Mana Food Bar, MingHin, Nana, Quiote, Sabri Nihari, Sushi Dokku and Wood.
