In anticipation of the release of its sophomore album, Forever Turned Around, Chicago folk-rock duo Whitney have earned its own holiday via a proclamation from Mayor Lori Lightfoot. In honor of the occasion, the band will be hosting a series of events throughout the city on Friday, August 30, beginning with a WXRT performance at noon. You'll be able to have lunch with the group at Parson's Chicken and Fish in Logan Square (2–4pm), see them perform at Shuga Records (5–6pm) and sample a Whitney-inspired beer at Middle Brow's Bungalow (5pm–midnight) with a portion of proceeds benefiting local charities.
