DIY hero Dan Friel, best known as part of noise-rockers Parts & Labor, fronts Upper Wilds, trading in his array of synths for a bank of effects pedals that allow him to turn his voice into a squall of otherworldly sounds. The group's sophomore record, Mars, finds inspiration in vintage tales of space exploration, using recordings from NASA satellites as sonic inspiration for clamoring galactic garage rock arrangements. At this special album release show, Upper Wilds is joined by local post-punk outfit Crown Larks and instrumental rockers Stander.
