Umphrey's McGee

Chicago's own addition to the jam canon is actually one of the more interesting acts under that broad umbrella, bringing in elements of yacht rock and '80s pop to the standard Dead formula. Sure, there's plenty of improvisation and/or noodling, but there's also an allegiance to art-rock and rigorous prog that keeps the band from coasting. UM rings in its 18th year with three nights at the Riv.
