The stage at the Civic Opera House is still dark after more than a year without shows, but the Lyric Opera is taking its talented performers to an unexpected place. Over the course of three nights in April and May, the Lyric will present the Chicago premiere of its reimagining of the final chapter of Wagner's epic Ring cycle... in parking garage.
Twilight: Gods is being presented as a drive-through performance spread across the 3.8 million square feet of the Millennium Garages. Attendees will remain in their cars for the entirety of the 70-minute experience, slowly driving through a series of live performances, videos and installations. Audio will be piped through car radios, allowing you to hear the singers, instrumental groups and actors.
Can't snag a ticket? Not to worry—you'll be able to stream a video of the entire drive-through opera experience sometime this summer.
