Twerps

Merge Records' Twerps, straight outta Australia, play primordial indie, that kind of clean and sparse jangle-malaise with lyrics by a bookworm romantic. At times, you'll think you're listening to Galaxie 500, Yo La Tengo, the Pastels, Pavement… Classic college rock stuff done well if without much imagination. Still, the band name proves these purveyors of noodle-armed guitar have a sense of humor.
