We hope Billy breaks out the old black leather skirts for this one. Oh, right, he goes by William now. Both the Pumpkins and Manson have been on a downward spiral (sorry, wrong electro-goth reference there) since the 1990s, but the two also released their strongest albums in a good while recently, wisely economizing and getting back to loud guitar riffs. Monuments to an Elegy and The Pale Emperor don't just go back to their roots, but to the big, chunky sounds of 1980s acts like the Cult. They've finally realized their not an alternative, but rather classic rock.
