There was a moment in the early '90s when the Grifters were spoken of on equal terms as Pavement. Things didn't shake out quite that way in the annals of history, but that should not be a knock on the Memphis band. The wonderfully titled Crappin' You Negative, released in 1994 before the guys signed to Sub Pop, perfected their unique cocktail of Nick Cave, Big Star and slacker rock. The band headlines are part of the Tomorrow Never Knows 2015 festival.
